During my apprenticeship I was required to attend the local technical college on a two day and then six month block release.

As a vocational qualification, this course spent time teaching many non-academic skills, such as project management and planning. The final team project for the HNC course was to design and construct a robotic mouse that would negotiate its way out of an unknown maze. My contribution to this this project was to write the software for the mouse’s micro-controller based navigation system using a depth-first search algorithm.
